About Pip

Having studied hospitality and marketing at Oxford Brookes and spending a few years in the hospitality industry, Pip decided that she wanted to focus her passion in the health and wellbeing sector. Pip went on to take her Personal Training qualification with Premier Global, studying part time while still working.

Pip made the transition into the wellbeing industry once fully qualified and started working with Emma James Physio as a Personal Trainer. Pip worked at Emma James Physio over two years, taking classes from HIIT, LIIT, Pilates, Stretch and Spin and also managed the FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) contract.

Pip managed two gyms at the FCDO in Hanslope and Westminster, focusing her energy on running of the gyms, equipment maintenance and looking after members. She also worked closely with the Health & Safety team at the FCDO, carrying out full desk assessments and ergonomic coaching.

While working for EJP, Pip went on to qualify in becoming a Mat Pilates instructor and a Level 3 Sports Masseuse. Pip discovered a love for Pilates when she broke her back in October 2018. This was a result of being trampled by horse, which ended up with three fractures in her lumbar, several broken ribs and a liver laceration. Three months after retaining the injuries Pip was back in the saddle, with her main recovery coming from regular Pilates building up her core strength to support her spine.

While working in the physio practice Pip further discovered the huge benefits sports massage can have on one’s body. Sports massage doesn’t just help prevent injury but also helps speed up recovery, eases aches and pains and helps an individual to relax.

About Pip’s Barn

Pip had wanted to be self-employed for some time, to focus her energy on supporting her local community on keeping fit and enjoying exercise. When the opportunity presented itself to her to convert one of her Granny’s barns into a studio, she jumped at the chance.

Pip wanted to create a space for people to come to classes, PT sessions or for a sports massage where they feel happy and relaxed. Pip has found from working in the industry there is a lot of information and competition out there for classes and how to keep fit and healthy, but she wants people to enjoy exercise and feel comfortable about working out and not worry if they are not the best.

Exercise can have huge benefits, not only for physical health but also mental health. Pip’s Barn is a great space for one to get fit, have fun and meet new and old friends.

“I’ve trained with Pippa for about 3 years and during COVID regularly joined her online classes. Pippa is a motivational trainer; she is always upbeat, and she trains along with you which makes you feel as though you are training alongside a friend. At the same time, she watches what you do and highlights anything that needs to be corrected. She identifies alternative options for people with injuries, or just older joints and she always brings a challenge. I’ve enjoyed her sessions so much I’ve recruited my daughter and my niece, and they love the workouts too!”
